2023 was, well, what is there to say but that it was in many ways better than 2022 and 2021. I could get mired in all the things that have gone wrong, not necessarily for me personally but in general and in the world at large. It’s been a fairly large dumpster fire by just about anyone’s reckoning. Which is one of the major reasons that I have not been writing. I tend to write what I’m thinking and I tend to wear my thoughts on my sleeve. Some might say that is the only way to live and others might say that is absolutely no way to live so, who knows. I would ask who is to say but I expect the answer to be everyone and their random opinions but that only adds to why I haven’t written for a very long time. Well, that is to say, I don’t really write and then share it.

I still write.

And now I’m going to share it again.

When I first started blogging, it was about this and that, and then became mostly about trying to find a ballet class for adult beginners which was mostly a bust and then suddenly became a boom. I wrote about going to the ballet and other performances, museums, and travel. I wrote a bit about my life and my work, school and dance class. Most of that has changed dramatically. I took an early retirement from my job three years ago. I moved from California to North Carolina. I finished my PhD back in 2013. I haven’t been to a ballet class in years. And I’ve only just started to travel and attend performances of any kind again and not really all that much at all. Not that I don’t want to but let us reference the worldwide dumpster fire here. Still, things have been interesting and life is good in my little 2 acre plot of America. And as I’ve said, I do still write pretty much every day. So here I am again, hitting the blue publish button, feeling very much as I did oh so many years ago when I was pretty certain that I was just talking to the air with not a single reader in sight. I’ve contemplated moving over to Medium or Substack but I’ve already got this nice WordPress site so I’m just going to put words to screen and see what happens.
