What do you do better than anyone else?
I’m me better than anyone else. It took a long time for me to be comfortable about that. Me is a little bit strange, not so much like other people, often awkward and uncomfortable. But I’ve found that I like me and I like being me and things work best when I’m just me instead of worrying about how other people see me, if other people like me, and wondering why I’m not more like other people.

Who is an expert you admire and why?
I like people who are really good at what they do out of love, devotion, hard work, and a sense of purpose. I like people who are creative and innovative but who also have a great sense of tradition and history. I like people who work in dignity, responsibility, and with a great sense of honor.

Do you think its better to be a recognized expert for one thing, or known to be really good at lots of things?
I think it depends on the person – some people don’t need more than one thing to devote themselves to. Personally, I enjoy a number of pursuits and I work toward being an expert in many of them. For me, if I’m into something, I am all in. It’s how I operate.

If you’re celebrating Thanksgiving today (or even if you’re not!), tell us about the best cook in your family.
My grandmothers were wonderful cooks. Then it all went to pot. My mom was and is a terrible cook. I learned to cook as a survival technique. I’m told I’m quite a good cook. *sigh* I’ll never be skinny again.
Oh, and I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving but I do eat turkey in November.

What do you like to do to celebrate an accomplishment?
Steak, beach, ballet. Repeat.
“I’m me better than anyone else.” I like that, I never saw it that way. Food for thought.
